docs: show the state of main in the tests badge - #394
Conversation
The badge named the workflow, which shows its latest run on any branch: a pull request's run, or one cancelled by the next push, turned it red. Named by its file, as webpack's own README does, it shows the default branch. The tests badge in the README used the workflow-name URL (
/workflows/diagnostics-webpack-plugin/badge.svg). That URL shows the workflow's latest run on any branch, so the badge turns red for runs that say nothing aboutmain. Right now it is red for two such runs:changeset-release/mainthat sat waiting for approval and closed as a failure with no jobs when the PR was merged.main: the push run of perf: skip importers on a file's first edit too, and in projects with allowJs #393, cancelled when the release commit landed. This switches to the workflow-file URL that webpack's own README uses (
actions/workflows/test.yml/badge.svg). GitHub shows the default branch's status for that URL, and the badge link now opens this workflow's runs. The README change only, so there is no changeset.
