Per docs/cleanup-github-workflows.md (orchestration repo): use clear displayed CI names that distinguish building, installed-package testing and publication.

  • The workflow displays as 'R — Build, installation tests and release'.
  • Build job: 'Build R package — · R ' (the R version comes from the workflow-level R_VERSION env, not hardcoded in the name).
  • 'Prepare test resources', 'Test installed package — ' (the Linux job names the 22.04 portability floor runner), 'Publish tested artifacts'.

Internal job IDs, artifact names and triggers are unchanged; the installation gates and the manifest-gated publish are untouched. No required status checks reference the old names (checked: none of the three repos have required checks on master).

Display the workflow as 'R — Build, installation tests and release'
and the jobs as 'Build R package — <platform> · R <ver>' (the R
version comes from the workflow-level R_VERSION env), 'Prepare test
resources', 'Test installed package — <platform>' (the Linux job
names the 22.04 portability floor runner) and 'Publish tested
artifacts'. Internal job IDs, artifact names and triggers are
unchanged; no required status checks reference the old names.
A job name cannot read the env context (GitHub rejected the
workflow with 'Unrecognized named-value: env'). Name the build
jobs with the R version as a constant, per the agreed naming
scheme; keep it in sync with the R_VERSION env when that changes.
