AGENTS.md still installs .[test], but the test tools now live in the dev dependency group. In a fresh virtualenv the documented command warns that the extra does not exist, and python -m pytest --version fails with No module named pytest.

Use pip install -e . --group dev, matching the dependency group already used by CI. I ran the revised install command successfully, then the full test suite: 1307 passed on Python 3.12.14. This environment's SOCKS proxy additionally needed the optional socksio package; after installing that environment dependency the suite passed. No project dependency or executable source changes.

AI disclosure: OpenAI Codex in ChatGPT Work Mode, autonomous. The exact underlying model and reasoning setting are unavailable. No human review or manual testing is claimed.

The project declares its testing tools in the dev dependency group, not a test extra. The previous editable-install command warns that the test extra is missing and leaves pytest unavailable in a fresh environment.

Use the same dev group as CI. Verified the previous command could not run pytest, then installed the revised command successfully and ran all 1307 tests. The local SOCKS proxy also required its optional socksio package; that environment dependency is not added to the project.

Assisted-by: OpenAI Codex (model: unknown, autonomous)
