Problem Statement
Currently, the RustFS application does not clearly display the version of RustFS that is installed and running. As a result, users cannot easily determine whether they are using the latest release or if an update is available.
Usually I need to check the github, but the other issue is we do not know what version is the current installaton
Proposed Solution
Add a version information section within the application that displays the currently running RustFS version.
Additionally, implement an update notification mechanism that:
- Checks whether a newer release is available on GitHub.
- Notifies the user when an update is available.
- Provides an Update button that opens the latest RustFS GitHub release page in the user's browser, allowing -them to download and install the newest version.
This would make it easier for users to stay up to date and quickly verify which version they are running.
My suggestioon is to the placed on the bottom sidebar
Users can manually visit the GitHub repository and compare their installed version with the latest release.
Users can check version information via command-line tools or logs, if available.
However, both approaches require additional effort and are less user-friendly than displaying version information directly in the application.
Even if the button is not added, the current version is really helpful in case breaking changes are introduced
