I thought this couldn't be closed since I wasn't able to verify FormData
#885

📚 Description

Previously, validating FormData request values in registerEndpoint didn't work properly. Since the changes from #1829 were included, I thought it might be working now. I added a test to check, and it works!

  • Adjusted it to also work in jsdom
  • happy-dom works without the window.Request patch in the environment, so moved it to jsdom
  • Changed startOnBoot default to false in examples/app-vitest-full (enabled in test:dev) for easier checking in nuxt dev

Other changes

  • Pass teardownTimeout to AfterAll in cucumber e2e to catch failures on windows CI

Preserve uploaded file bytes in both responses. Both endpoints decode file data as UTF-8, although the new file inputs accept non-text files. Invalid UTF-8 bytes become replacement characters, so the response cannot represent the submitted file. (nodejs.org)

Return only the header required by the test.

blob.post.ts is a browser-reachable Nuxt API route, not a test-only fixture. FormBlobSubmit.vue calls /api/forms/blob, and a same-origin browser request can include HttpOnly cookies. getHeaders(event) then returns those headers in the JSON response, which exposes the cookie to JavaScript.

The test only requires content-type. Return only that header. This is a concrete security hardening issue, but major severity is not supported for this private example application.

Add a plain Blob assertion.

The new “Blob” tests create File objects. They exercise the window.File branch, not the plain window.Blob branch. A regression in plain Blob conversion can therefore pass both test suites.

Add a plain Blob body assertion to the registered endpoint test.

jsdom 27.4 28 implForWrapper utils.js Blob arrayBuffer official source

💡 Result:

If you’re asking whether `Blob.arrayBuffer()` works in **jsdom 27.4.0 or 28.0.0**: it was **added in jsdom 28.1.0**, so don’t expect it in either earlier version. The official release notes list `blob.arrayBuffer()` among the 28.1.0 additions. ([github.com](https://github.com/jsdom/jsdom/releases?utm_source=openai))

In 27.4.0, the official `Blob-impl.js` stores data in the implementation’s `_buffer`; that’s implementation internals, not a public `Blob.arrayBuffer()` method. ([gitlab.com](https://gitlab.com/jsdom-official/jsdom/-/raw/27.4.0/lib/jsdom/living/file-api/Blob-impl.js))

`implForWrapper` is an internal generated utility for mapping a Blob wrapper to its implementation. You can use it to reach `_buffer`, but that’s unsupported internals—not a substitute for the missing public method. I couldn’t retrieve the exact `utils.js` source through the available source viewer, so its version-specific implementation remains unverified here. The official tag listing confirms the 27.4.0 and 28.0.0 versions. ([gitlab.com](https://gitlab.com/jsdom-official/jsdom/-/tags?utm_source=openai))

🌐 Web query:

site:github.com/jsdom/jsdom/blob v27.4.0 lib/jsdom/living/generated/utils.js implForWrapper package.json exports

💡 Result:

For **jsdom v27.4.0**, `package.json` has no `"exports"` field; it declares CommonJS and sets `"main": "./lib/api.js"`. So the package does not use an `exports` map to restrict subpath imports. ([raw.githubusercontent.com](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jsdom/jsdom/v27.4.0/package.json))

I couldn’t verify `implForWrapper` in that version’s generated `utils.js`: the direct source lookup returned 404. The `webidl2js` documentation describes `implForWrapper`, but that alone doesn’t establish that jsdom v27.4.0’s generated file contains or exposes it. ([github.com](https://github.com/jsdom/webidl2js?utm_source=openai))

🌐 Web query:

site:github.com/jsdom/jsdom/blob v30.1.1 lib/generated/idl/utils.js implForWrapper

💡 Result:

In **jsdom v30.1.1**, `implForWrapper` is exported from `lib/generated/idl/utils.js`; it returns the implementation object corresponding to a wrapper (or `null` for a non-wrapper). This is an internal utility, not a supported public API. (GitHub issue 11336 in vitest-dev/vitest (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference))

The exact v30.1.1 source page couldn’t be fetched, so the version-specific detail is supported by a report identifying that release and the matching published implementation. (GitHub issue 11336 in vitest-dev/vitest (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference))

Reject missing implementations instead of stringifying wrappers.

If both implForWrapper imports fail, getImplement returns a no-op. toNodeBlobLike then passes the jsdom wrapper to Node’s Blob/File constructor, which can stringify it as "[object Blob]" instead of preserving its bytes. The supported jsdom layouts use one of the two loader paths, so this is a conditional fallback failure, not a demonstrated version-path failure. A public arrayBuffer() fallback does not cover jsdom 27.4.0–28.0.0.

Throw a clear error when no implementation is available:

Update toNodeBlobLike to detect when getImplement cannot provide a Blob/File
implementation and throw a clear error before constructing a NodeBlob or
NodeFile; do not fall back to passing the jsdom wrapper as the blob data.

Even if getting impl fails, type and filename remain intact, it only affects verifying the blob's actual content.

@yamachi4416 Correct. type and filename remain intact because the code copies them explicitly. Thanks for clarifying.

The concern is limited to the payload bytes. If implementation lookup fails, the Node constructor can stringify the jsdom wrapper instead of copying its contents. This changes the request body itself, not just content verification in the test. The finding remains valid as a conditional content-integrity issue, not a metadata issue.

Learning: In src/environments/vitest/env/jsdom.ts, toNodeBlobLike explicitly copies Blob.type and File.name and File.lastModified into Node Blob/File constructors. These metadata values remain intact even if jsdom implementation lookup fails. Missing implementation bytes affect payload content, not these metadata values.

Thank you. Since the cause of the failure was hard to notice, added a warning message.

@yamachi4416 Thank you. The warning makes the implementation lookup failure easier to identify. It improves diagnostics, though the fallback can still change the payload content.
