Scope-Replace

Find and replace text across multiple files at once, but only in the files you choose.

VS Code's built-in search can replace across your whole project, which is sometimes too much. Scope-Replace lets you pick exactly which files to change, so nothing else gets touched by accident.

Features

  • Find and replace across many files in one go
  • Select the exact files you want to include
  • Preview matches before replacing
  • Saves time on repetitive edits
  • Works with any file type

Installation

From the Marketplace

  1. Open VS Code.
  2. Go to the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X, or Cmd+Shift+X on Mac).
  3. Search for Scope-Replace.
  4. Click Install.

From a VSIX file

  1. Download the .vsix file from the Releases page.
  2. In VS Code, open the Extensions view.
  3. Click the ... menu at the top right and choose Install from VSIX...
  4. Select the downloaded file.

How to Use

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P, or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac).
  2. Run Scope-Replace: Open.
  3. Type the text you want to find.
  4. Type the text you want to replace it with.
  5. Select the files you want to include.
  6. Review the matches.
  7. Click Replace to apply the changes.
