• Changed

  • The hint for an expected array element that is not found now names the closest unmatched actual element by its path in the actual JSON (e.g. $.records[1]). The hint is computed after the whole array has been matched, so it never points at an element that a later expected element matches
  • When no actual element is left unmatched, the hint says the expected element might be extra
  • Removed the "closest matched actual element" hint
  • Comparisons made only to search for a matching array element no longer build diff messages, which makes lenient array matching faster

v8.2

• Changed

  • When an expected JSON object or array inside an array is not found, the diff now also shows the closest actual elements and their differences: the closest one that is still unmatched, and the closest one already matched by another expected element (reported as would match when it has no differences)
