🤖 GitPost

Turn git push into Clout. > Your automated LinkedIn hype-man that turns code commits into engaging content.

n8n GitHub LinkedIn AI

🧐 What is GitPost?

Let's be real: Shipping code is hard. Marketing it is harder.

You spend hours building cool features, but forgetting to tell the world means your personal brand stays stagnant. GitPost solves this.

It is an n8n automation workflow that watches your GitHub repository. The moment you push code, an AI Agent analyzes your commit messages, writes a professional (or witty) LinkedIn post about what you just built, and publishes it automatically.

✨ Features

  • ⚡ Real-Time Triggers: Activates immediately via GitHub Webhooks.
  • 🧠 AI Content Generation: Uses LLMs (OpenAI/Gemini) to turn technical commit logs into human-readable, engaging stories.
  • 🎨 Smart Formatting: Adds relevant emojis, hashtags, and formatting suitable for LinkedIn.
  • 🔗 Auto-Linking: Includes a link to your repository or the specific commit so people can see your code.

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Trigger: You run git push on your terminal.
  2. Webhook: GitHub sends the commit data to your n8n webhook.
  3. Analysis: The AI Agent reads the commit message and changed files.
  4. Drafting: The AI generates a LinkedIn post (e.g., "Just shipped a new feature for X...").
  5. Publish: n8n posts it directly to your LinkedIn profile.

🛠️ Setup Guide

Prerequisites

  • An instance of n8n (Self-hosted or Cloud).
  • A GitHub account.
  • A LinkedIn account (and Developer App for API access).
  • An API Key for an LLM (OpenAI or Gemini).

Installation

  1. Import the Workflow

    • Download the GitPost_Workflow.json file from this repository.
    • Open your n8n dashboard → Workflows → Import from File.
  2. Configure Credentials

    • GitHub: Add your Personal Access Token or set up OAuth.
    • OpenAI/Gemini: Add your API Key.
    • LinkedIn: Connect your account via OAuth2.
  3. Set Up the Webhook

    • In the n8n Webhook Node, copy the Production URL.
    • Go to your GitHub Repo → Settings → Webhooks → Add Webhook.
    • Paste the URL and select Just the push event.
  4. Test It

    • Make a change to your repo.
    • git commit -m "feat: added awesome new login animation"
    • git push
    • Watch your LinkedIn feed light up! 🌟

🤖 Customization

You can tweak the AI System Prompt in the n8n node to change the personality of your hype-man:

  • Professional Mode: "Write a formal update about this software engineering achievement."
  • Hype Mode: "Write an exciting, emoji-filled announcement about this cool new feature!"
  • Minimalist: "Just state the facts and link the code."

🤝 Contributing

Got a better prompt? Or a way to add images to the post?

  1. Fork the repo.
  2. Create a branch (git checkout -b feature/ImageSupport).
  3. Submit a Pull Request!
