oauth2_jwt: in_http: in_opentelemetry: Implement configurable OAuth2 jwks buffer size and its limit - #12694
I implemented a configurable limit for the JWKS download in this checkout. Set oauth2.jwks_buffer_max_size on the HTTP input; it defaults to 1M, accepts values from 4,096 bytes through 16M, and counts response headers and body. The buffer grows as the response arrives. If the limit is exceeded, Fluent Bit logs the configured limit and rejects validation.
This fixes the reported Entra ID JWKS fetch failure. It does not change the size limit for an incoming bearer JWT; that is a separate path.

Walkthrough
OAuth2 JWT configuration now includes JWKS response-size and response-time limits. JWKS retrieval applies both settings. HTTP input integration tests cover response-size boundaries and timeout handling.
The configuration adds jwks_buffer_max_size and jwks_response_timeout. Defaults are 1,000,000 bytes and 30 seconds. Context creation rejects sizes below 4,096 bytes or above 16M, and timeouts outside 1–300 seconds.
Bounded JWKS retrieval src/flb_oauth2_jwt.c
JWKS requests use the configured response buffer, including two bytes of headroom, and the configured timeout. Request failures distinguish a full response buffer from other HTTP failures.
Integration tests cover successful and rejected JWKS responses at different sizes, including the 7,999-, 8,000-, and 8,001-byte boundaries, and a streamed response that exceeds the configured timeout.
A valid chunked JWKS response at the configured limit can be rejected. Increasing the limit provides a workaround; the change is mergeable with that limitation understood.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #12679 requires a finite, configurable JWKS response limit, demand-driven buffering, overflow diagnostics, and documentation that the limit covers headers and body. The PR sets a 1M default, validates 4,096-byte through 16M values, applies the limit to the JWKS HTTP client with headroom, and rejects oversized responses. The configuration map documents the scope and range. Integration tests cover successful responses, the 8K boundary, overflow diagnostics, validation rejection, and the separate JWKS response timeout path.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed configuration, JWKS fetch logic, HTTP and OpenTelemetry initialization, and integration tests support Issue #12679. The added JWKS response timeout remains in the same JWKS download path and limits a related resource condition. The changes do not modify the incoming bearer JWT limit or the separate OAuth2 token-acquisition path.

The 401 branch checks data_storage["payloads"] once, before service.stop(). If a regression enqueues this rejected request, its output can arrive after that check. The test then passes without detecting the forwarded request. service.assert_no_forwarded_payloads_for() reads the same list repeatedly over a quiet period, so it catches a late payload.

Replace the one-time `data_storage["payloads"]` check in the 401 branch with
`service.assert_no_forwarded_payloads_for()` so the test detects rejected
requests forwarded during the quiet period.

Bound cumulative transfer time for chunked JWKS responses.
data_size_max bounds memory at jwks_buffer_max_size + 2, but it does not bound cumulative wire bytes. process_chunked_data() removes chunk framing from data_len, and flb_http_do() continues reading until the terminating chunk. A peer can therefore send many chunks with large extensions while keeping decoded headers and body within the configured limit.
The fetch runs while ctx->lock is held. This path sets no response or read-idle timeout, and net.io_timeout defaults to 0s. Such a response can keep other JWT validations blocked, although memory remains bounded.
Track cumulative bytes received separately from parsed data_len and enforce a finite transfer budget, or configure a finite read timeout. Keep the existing decoded headers-and-body check.

Check rejected forwarding over a quiet period.
Both rejection paths inspect data_storage["payloads"] only once. If Fluent Bit forwards a rejected payload after that check, the test passes despite the forwarding. Use the existing service.assert_no_forwarded_payloads_for() helper in both paths. The test receiver records forwarded requests in data_storage["payloads"]. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

I implemented a configurable limit for the JWKS download in this checkout. Set
oauth2.jwks_buffer_max_sizeon the HTTP input; it defaults to1M, accepts values from 4,096 bytes through16M, and counts response headers and body. The buffer grows as the response arrives. If the limit is exceeded, Fluent Bit logs the configured limit and rejects validation. This fixes the reported Entra ID JWKS fetch failure. It does not change the size limit for an incoming bearer JWT; that is a separate path.
