fix(layout): remeasure chrome for position queries - #620
Follow-up to the second deferred P2 finding in #616.
GNU pos_visible_p evaluates and measures the mode/header/tab lines on every pos-visible-in-window-p / posn-at-point query, then walks the body under the
measured text-area partition (src/xdisp.c:1732-1770, 28216-28399). The
retained-row shortcut and the previous fallback both used stale chrome metrics.
Changes:
add WindowPositionPublication::SynchronousQueryPosition; Position-scope
queries now select WindowChromeRowSource::Recompute, while window-end / vertical-motion style queries keep PreserveReservedMetrics;
a measured-height mismatch drives the existing WindowChrome relayout; the
retry reuses the measured metrics, so each chrome format is evaluated once
per query (GNU evaluates once before the body walk);
Position queries bypass the geometry query cache, whose entries carry the
text-area partition from their own point;
measure chrome even when the retained partition leaves no body, so a
shrinking header/mode line can restore body space;
do not turn a nested position query made by a chrome :eval into a LayoutBusy error: track active chrome formatting with an RAII scope and
fall back to accepted geometry while it is running;
require no chrome line to be present (GNU window_wants_*) before reusing
retained rows after a point-only move.
Regression coverage uses the real LayoutEngine, not mocked query bounds:
point-dependent header and mode-line heights update the measured row, the
published region, the body origin/height, and flip the former bottom row to
invisible;
a retained chrome partition that consumes the whole body is remeasured and
the body returns;
nested posn-at-point calls from a chrome formatter do not recurse or signal;
viewport/window-end queries still do not evaluate point-dependent chrome.
Validation (rebased onto upstream/main at 689ff8c2a5):
This is independent of #619; both touch retained_rows_answer_for_live_window,
so whichever lands second needs a one-line rebase that keeps both checks.
Known limit: pos-visible-in-window-p with POS=t still uses the existing
Viewport-query policy; explicit POS and posn-at-point are covered.
Position queries now bypass cached observations and can remeasure point-dependent window chrome. The layout engine carries measured chrome across relayout attempts, including when retained chrome leaves no body area. Retained-row reuse checks chrome presence, and nested position queries during mode-line display return unavailable.
Changes: Position-query chrome measurement

Summary
Position-query admission and display scope crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/display/xdisp/*, crates/neovm-core/src/window/display.rs
Retained-row reuse now checks whether mode-line, header-line, or tab-line chrome is present. Mode-line formatting tracks its active display scope, and a nested position query returns unavailable while that scope is active. Tests cover reuse and re-query behavior.
Position-query render and measurement support crates/neomacs-layout-engine/src/buffer_source/render_attempt.rs, crates/neomacs-layout-engine/src/buffer_source/render_plan.rs, crates/neomacs-layout-engine/src/buffer_source/window_render.rs
Position queries use a publication mode that remeasures chrome without publishing window starts or ends. Render requests carry the remeasurement flag, and empty-body attempts can return measured chrome metrics.
Canonical query walk and relayout handling crates/neomacs-layout-engine/src/engine.rs
Position queries bypass cached observations and use the canonical layout walk. The engine tracks measured windows across relayout attempts and requests relayout when empty-body chrome measurements differ from assumed metrics.
Tests cover point-dependent header and mode-line heights, recovery from an empty body, nested chrome queries, source-row horizons, and position-query caching.
The previously reported chrome-exit failure is fixed. The remaining suggestion strengthens regression coverage and does not block merging.

The nested posn-at-point call can return nil when the active query reports Unavailable, but the formatter ignores that value. The test can therefore pass without checking the accepted-geometry fallback.

GNU pos_visible_p evaluates and measures mode/header/tab lines on every
pos-visible/posn-at-point query, then walks the body under the measured
text-area partition. Do the same for Position-scope queries instead of
preserving the accepted chrome metrics:
- add SynchronousQueryPosition, which selects chrome recomputation while
window-end-style queries keep PreserveReservedMetrics;
- let a measured-height mismatch drive the existing WindowChrome relayout,
and reuse the measured metrics on that retry so each chrome format is
evaluated once per query;
- measure chrome when the retained partition leaves no body, so a shrinking
row can restore body space;
- bypass the geometry query cache for Position queries, whose cached
observations carry the partition from their own point;
- keep nested position queries made by a chrome :eval from becoming
LayoutBusy errors, and fall back to accepted geometry instead.
Refs the deferred P2 follow-up in eval-exec#616 (src/xdisp.c:1732-1770).
- Do not retain Position observations in the geometry query cache. Position
queries never read the cache, so their entries would only consume bounded
capacity and evict reusable observations.
- Propagate a deferred chrome throw or non-error signal at the Position query
boundary before mapping the aborted layout to DidNotConverge, so an enclosing
Lisp catch receives the original exit instead of a layout error.
Adds regression tests for both behaviors.

Thank you for fixing live chrome measurement and covering empty-body recovery, nested position queries, and query-cache publication.
Rebased onto the merged #619 while preserving its frame-aware line-number face check together with the chrome check. After generating the worktree's missing cl-loaddefs.el runtime file, cargo nextest passes all 536 core xdisp/xfaces tests and 296 layout query/chrome/cache tests. The conflict resolution and whitespace/format checks are clean.
