Description

Changing the normalise_values to be able to process multiple hyphens without error.

QA Instructions, Screenshots, Recordings

Have tested locally the change and then have made some changes to the tests in digital-land-python/test/unit/test_harmonise.py This ran without errors reported. The digital-land/collection-task workflow was also able to run without error. I have tested the airflow pipeline in Development environment and this was also able to run without error.

  • Continuous integration testing succeeded
  • digital-land/collection-task workflow succeeded
  • Airflow Development pipeline run succeeded

Walkthrough

Categorical value normalisation now replaces whitespace and whitespace-surrounded runs of hyphens with a single hyphen before matching. The test adds a spaced category value and checks its harmonised output.

The process applies the updated normalisation before matching. The test adds MAP - TO-VALID-VALUE and expects MAP-TO-VALID-VALUE.

Handle categorical normalisation in the assign_entities path.

The standard pipeline_run path passes valid_category_values, but the separate CLI assign_entities path does not. Its HarmonisePhase receives the default empty map, so the changed categorical matching branch does not run. If this command must apply the same normalisation, pass the category map. Otherwise, document the intentional exclusion.

Handle repeated whitespace in categorical values.

The pattern accepts only one whitespace character on each side of a hyphen or between words. For example, MAP - TO-VALID-VALUE is logged as an invalid category and is appended as raw_value. raw_value.replace(r"\s", "-") does not correct this because str.replace treats r"\s" as literal text. Use \s+ or normalise whitespace before matching, and add this case to the regression test.
