What was wrong: Bite's setup instructions lived only in CLAUDE.md, which Codex, Cursor and Copilot don't read. They read AGENTS.md.

What changed:

  • CLAUDE.md moves to AGENTS.md, worded for any coding AI. It adds a short quick start (pipx install, bite --free, bite --all for commits not made with Claude Code, the report at bite_proof/report.html, how to upgrade, and that the project's test runner must be installed) and a short "Working on Bite's own code" section (CONTRIBUTING, python -m pytest, one fix per PR, the six CI checks).
  • CLAUDE.md is now two lines and loads AGENTS.md with @AGENTS.md, so Claude reads the same text.
  • README links AGENTS.md instead of CLAUDE.md.
  • The selftest's docs check now reads AGENTS.md, plus a new check that CLAUDE.md loads it.

How checked: python tests/selftest.py: 61/61 passed.

An AI (Claude Code) helped write this; the commit carries Assisted-by: Claude Code.

The setup and run instructions move from CLAUDE.md to AGENTS.md, worded for
any coding AI (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot). It adds a quick start
(pipx install, bite --free, --all, the report page, upgrading, the test
runner must be installed) and a short section on working on Bite's own code.
CLAUDE.md now just loads AGENTS.md. The selftest docs check follows the move.
