One-line pipx install, and first-run checks that name the fix - #29

README and CLAUDE.md now install Bite with pipx, so there is no venv to create or activate in each new window. Before any check, Bite now says plainly when git, the test command's program, or pytest is missing, with the line that installs it, instead of "exit 1" on every commit. "No module named ..." lines are also shown as the reason a check failed. Three self-test checks cover this and fail without the change. What changes
Install with pipx. The README and CLAUDE.md now install Bite with
pipx install git+https://github.com/connabyss/bite. That means no venv to create and nothing to activate in each new window. The paid step's package goes in withpipx inject bite-check claude-agent-sdk. Cloning pluspip install -e .[test]is still there, for people working on Bite itself.First-run checks. Before making any copy, Bite now checks:
python -m pytestWhen something is missing, Bite says what it is and prints the line that installs it, then stops. Before this, every commit showed only
tests fail at this commit/why: exit 1. Docker setups (contain_command) skip these checks, since the box brings its own programs. No module named ...lines are now shown as thewhyof a failed check.Checked
recent.py(54/57).pipx installworked from a local path and from the GitHub URL, andpipx inject bite-check claude-agent-sdkworked too. The installedbite --free, run with no pytest present, printed:Bite: pytest isn't installed for this Python (/usr/bin/python3), so your tests can't run. Install it, then run Bite again: python3 -m pip install pytest.Assisted-by: Claude Code
