Documents every environment variable the app reads. Before this, the README covered 11 of 69.

  • New docs/ENVIRONMENT.md: every setting with its default, grouped by what it controls:

    • data
    • federation, including setup for the public portal on Vercel (the six Production variables and how to make the token), dev servers, and a separate peer
    • sign-in and saved data
    • the site
    • the assistant
    • performance and limits
    • building and serving
    • tests and checks

It also names the variables set by the platform or the app, so nobody sets them.

  • README: the environment-variable table becomes a pointer to that file. A Federation section gives the overview: the two ways to run it, what a federated study supports, measured cost and security notes.

Docs only; docs/DATA-BOUNDARY.md stays the design.

Worth acting on: APP_BASE_URL defaults to https://cohort-lab.vercel.app, so cbiolab.vercel.app's MCP results link to the old address unless it is set.

The settings federation reads (CLICKHOUSE2_*, LOOPBACK_PEER*, PEER_MCP*, MCP_DISCLOSE_PATIENTS,
FEDERATION_HIDE_SQL, AGGREGATE_ONLY_*, STUDY_DENY, STUDY_ALLOW_RESTRICTED) were documented
nowhere a deployer would look. The README now has them in one table, with the setup for the
public portal on Vercel, dev servers and a separate peer, what a federated study supports, and
the security notes; docs/DATA-BOUNDARY.md stays the design.

The README documented eleven of the 69 settings the code reads. docs/ENVIRONMENT.md now has
every one, grouped by what it controls (data, federation with its setups, sign-in and saved data,
the site, the assistant, performance, building, tests and checks), each with its default; the
platform's and the app's own are named as not to be set. The README points to it and keeps the
federation overview, what a federated study supports and the security notes.
