Coordinated move, 2026-10-18. RPCharacters #129, Codex #4 and ConditionalEvents #4 ship together on TFMCMain01 in a planned stop after the 06:10 restart (fran). Please don't stage or deploy any of their releases on Main or Tutorial before then. ConditionalEvents #4's build check fails only because a fork PR can't read DEPS_TOKEN; the same commit (754b7ac) built green with it in CI, 41/41 tests (https://github.com/TF-Minecraft/ConditionalEvents/actions/runs/39101500750).

Shares profession progress between an account's characters and keeps class EXP carried over from other characters when the class can't hold it yet.

Changes

  • Professions belong to the account. When a character is activated (switch, new character, character after a death), each MMOCore profession is raised to the best level and experience any of the account's characters has reached, alive or dead, and its lifetime profession points to the most any of them holds. Upgrades stay with the character that bought them, so the points arrive unspent. Levels only go up, so accounts whose characters levelled apart before this get the best of each. The raise is logged (Raised the professions of character <id> of <account> to its account's best) and saved with the checkpoint after activation.
  • Carried class EXP. New console/admin command /rpcharacter admin carryexp <player> <amount>, used by Codex and ConditionalEvents for shared discoveries and duchy titles. MMOCore throws away EXP at a class's cap, so the class takes what it can hold and the rest waits in the character's progress file (pools.carried-experience, optional, 0 in older files). It is added level by level after a class/subclass change or at the next activation (for a raised cap), so every level-up still claims its exp-table rewards (skill points, skill slots). The player is told once per batch how much is waiting, and how much was added when it is. Saves use the coalesced checkpoint, since a batch carries EXP many times in one tick.

Ship RPCharacters with Codex, or Codex's shared EXP lines fail as an unknown subcommand. No RPCharacters config changes. Act System note: carried EXP is released by a cap rise, so an act catch-up must not repay it (ACT-SYSTEM.md updated).

Tests

  • mvn verify on Linux: 2559 tests, 0 failures, 100% line coverage gate met. New: SharedProfessionsTest, CarriedExperienceTest, plus command and tab-completion cases.
  • Dev (TFMCDev01, 2026-10-17), bot account with real characters: two characters diverged on the old jar (A: Herborist 10, Crafter 9, Forager 9; B: Herborist 13). After the upgrade, A got Herborist 13 and 12 points; B got Crafter/Forager 9 with 8 points each, unspent. After B was permakilled, new character C got all three professions and points. Carried EXP: 230 waited at the Warrior cap; picking Berserker added it (level 3); carryexp 1500 then levelled Berserker 3 → 8, gave the level-7 2 skill points once and unlocked skill slot 3. One waiting notice per batch with the total (130 EXP). No RPCharacters, Codex or ConditionalEvents errors in the Dev log.

Not released yet; nothing on Main or Tutorial until the coordinated move.

…characters

Professions belong to the account: when a character is activated, each MMOCore
profession is raised to the best level any of the account's characters (alive or
dead) has reached, and its lifetime profession points to the most any of them
holds. Upgrades stay with each character, so the points arrive unspent. Taking
the best also settles accounts whose characters levelled apart before this.

Class EXP that Codex and ConditionalEvents carry over from other characters goes
through /rpcharacter admin carryexp <player> <amount>. The class takes what it can
hold; EXP past its cap waits in the character's progress (carried-experience) and
is added level by level after a class change or at the next activation, so each
level-up still claims its exp-table rewards (skill points, skill slots).

Shared Codex rewards carry EXP many times in one tick, so the waiting notice
reported only the first reward that overflowed the class cap. It is now sent
once the batch is done, with the total waiting, and only if the batch added to it.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Class experience now carries over when a character is at its class level cap and is released when that character can progress.
    • Profession levels and points are shared across an account’s characters, applying the highest progress when a character is activated.
    • Administrators can use the carryexp command to award experience and receive command suggestions.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified how class attributes and profession progress are shared across characters.

Character activation now shares profession levels and points across an account’s roster. Class EXP that cannot be applied is stored and released when a character can gain class levels. An admin subcommand can award this EXP.

Profession data is decoded and compared across roster characters. Activation raises and saves the selected character’s progress when a roster character has higher levels or points. The README describes account-wide profession levels and points.

Character progress stores carried EXP. Release applies EXP level by level and retains any remainder. Release is scheduled after class application and called during character activation. Tests cover release, validation, and persistence.

The admin command accepts a target player and positive finite amount. Command routing and tab completion expose the subcommand. Tests cover delegation and suggestions.

Switching characters soon after gaining a profession level can leave that level unavailable to the next character. Save outgoing progress before merging.
