fix(server): start fresh-thread scheduled tasks on a real branch - #87
Conversation
Agent-created scheduled tasks that launch a fresh thread per run hardcoded `main` as their worktree base, which fails in repos whose default branch is something else. They now branch from origin's default branch, falling back to the project's checked-out branch. Saving a new or changed worktree base branch now checks that it exists locally or on origin, so a bad branch fails at save time instead of at the first unattended run. An unchanged base is not re-checked, so a task whose branch was later deleted can still be paused or edited. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ries A retried schedule_task with the same clientRequestId resolved the default base branch again. Without an origin default branch, moving the project checkout between attempts silently changed the stored base, and a detached HEAD made the retry fail although the task already existed. A retry now reuses the stored task's workspace strategy. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to A stale default-branch reference can prevent a new scheduled task from starting, and base-resolution errors can reveal a local workspace path. These are bounded risks, but the branch fallback and error message should be corrected. Pre-merge checks |

ScheduledTaskService. The MCP handler performs a persistence lookup with
scheduledTasks.list()before callingupsert. This violates the service boundary for persistence and retry logic. Resolve the existing task insideScheduledTaskService.upsert, which already callsfindTask(id), and preserveworkspaceStrategyonly when the same command ID replays an existing unbound task. This keeps binding semantics unchanged and avoids loading every scheduled task. A targeted service lookup is also acceptable. The claim about other entrypoints is not established and is not needed for this finding.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents
