The BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL option is implemented, see the PR #8.
New CMake option BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL (OFF by default): the project clones the OpenSSL sources (default tag openssl-3.0.9), builds the static OpenSSL libraries in the build directory and links them privately into the easyssl library. The system OpenSSL 3.0+ library is not required anymore.
Supported platforms: Linux, Android, iOS and macOS (arm/x86).
Windows and WASM are not supported (the configure fails with a clear message).
Usage: cmake .. -DBUILD_WITH_OPENSSL=1.
Verified on Linux x86_64: with the option ON the OpenSSL 3.0.9 library is built and all 7 unit tests pass; the default build (option OFF, system OpenSSL) and the EASYSSL_STATIC_SSL build also pass all tests.
Adding Windows support to the BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL option (requested in the PR #14 review, see #14 (comment)). Plan: - [ ] cmake/BuildOpenSSL.cmake: add the mingw64 configure target (static, -no-shared) for Windows MinGW, build with mingw32-make - [ ] CMakeLists.txt: remove the WIN32 FATAL_ERROR - [ ] src/lib/CMakeLists.txt: link the Windows system libraries (ws2_32, gdi32, crypt32) when BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL is enabled on Windows - [ ] Verify: Linux full build + tests with BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL=ON (regression), plus a cross-compiled OpenSSL 3.0.9 Windows build to validate the command sequence - [ ] Update the PR #8 description (Windows is now supported) - [ ] Change the PR #14 base branch to task_6 I will update this list after each step.
This is fully resolved now: PR #14 (CI + BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL incl. Windows MinGW, OpenSSL 3.6 RSA fix, docs) was merged into main (4abef5a), and PR #8 (the BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL option) is merged too. The issue can be closed as completed. Thanks!]

Yes, but if it is trouble for you, you can prepare build openssl library with my build script.

@jhay06 but I can add new option for the preparing OpenSSL libraries before build easyssl.
for example BUILD_WITH_OPENSSL
This will be support Linux, Android, iOS and Mac platforms (arm/x86) by default. But not windows.
