  • You have read the "Registering a new Plugin" guide.
  • You want to and are able to maintain the plugin you are registering, long-term.
  • You understand why the plugin you are registering works.
  • You have read and acknowledge the Code of Conduct.

What is the name of your plugin?

OctoLight Home Assistant

What does your plugin do?

Controls Home Assistant lights, switches and input booleans from OctoPrint. Features include entity discovery, navbar controls, brightness and RGB colour adjustment, print status colours, optional error flashes, delayed shutoff and @octolight host commands.

Where can we find the source code of your plugin?

https://github.com/mark-bloom/OctoLight_Home-Assistant

Was any kind of genAI (ChatGPT, Copilot etc) involved in creating this plugin?

Yes. Codex assisted with refactoring, tests, documentation. The listing now includes the ai-developed attribute.

Is your plugin commercial in nature?

No. It is free and open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later.

Does your plugin rely on some cloud services?

No cloud service is required. The plugin communicates directly with the user-configured Home Assistant instance, which can run locally.

Further notes

This updates the existing octolightHA listing following v0.3.0 and the collaboration agreed in #1502.

Changes include:

  • Python compatibility corrected to >=3.9,<4.
  • OctoPrint compatibility updated to >=1.11.8,<3, retaining Linux support.
  • idontwantfame added alongside Mark Bloom.
  • Required ai-developed attribute added.
  • Updated feature descriptions, setup requirements and API upgrade notes.
  • Three current screenshots captured from OctoPrint using simulated Home Assistant entities.

The original plugin identifier, registration date and upstream URLs are preserved. Front-matter validation passes with no warnings, and screenshot assets have been checked.

Fixes mark-bloom/OctoLight_Home-Assistant#23

# You can also remove the whole "os" block. Removing it will default to all
# operating systems being supported.

OctoPrint 1.8.0 was first version that supported python 3.9. Is there a reason you're limiting to the latest release?

## Upgrading

Existing OctoLight Home Assistant installations upgrade in place. The plugin
identifier, settings and update source remain the same, so no settings import is
needed. Integrations using GET requests to toggle, turn on or turn off lights must
switch to authenticated JSON POST commands on the same API endpoint.

Is this block even necessary to include since existing users won't really be impacted?
