What changes and why

A notification card of a trade on another node used to open a dialog that only said to switch nodes in Settings, with an OK button. That dialog now asks "Do you want to switch to node X?" with Change node and Cancel. Switching restores the account on the new node, exactly as a switch from Settings does. Then it opens the chat or trade the user tapped. The steps after a switch move into a shared helper, which the mostro: order link screen also uses. The Notifications screen is migrated to the design guide in its own commit, because touching it makes the Design guide check read the whole file.

Affected flow

  • Notifications screen → a card whose trade is on another node. This covers tapping a notification (chat or trade update) and "Go to trade".
    • lib/features/notifications/widgets/notification_group_card.dart hands the tap to a new onOtherNode(node, nodeName, open) callback. Before, it showed the informational dialog.
    • lib/features/notifications/screens/notifications_screen.dart (_openOnItsNode) shows the dialog. After a switch that goes through, it runs afterNodeSwitch and then opens what was tapped. A failed switch shows errorSwitchingNode and opens nothing. A guard ignores taps while a switch is running.
    • lib/features/notifications/widgets/other_node_switch_dialog.dart (new) runs the switch with the dialog open and its primary action busy. While the switch runs, neither the barrier nor back closes the dialog (PopScope).
  • The shared helper. lib/features/settings/services/node_switch.dart (new):
  • Design-guide migration of notifications_screen.dart. Visible changes only, no change in behaviour:
    • redesignAppBar and the palette background;
    • the destructive red on the delete swipe;
    • My Trades' group-header colour on section headers;
    • palette tokens and guide radii on the backup banner and the empty state.
  • Order and dispute statuses: any. Nothing here depends on status.
  • Rust: untouched.

Blast radius

  • Node switch. It is the same selectNode → set_active_mostro_node path as Settings. The previous node is retained, and the kind-14 filter keeps the issuing nodes of live trades as authors. So trades left on the old node are still heard, and their cards then offer the switch back.
  • No warning about trades on the current node. This is deliberate: the card is a direct request to go to the other node.
  • Unknown or unreachable nodes.
    • A node that is not in the registry is offered under its short pubkey. Selecting it auto-imports it as a custom node, as a deep link does.
    • An unreachable node is not blocked. The switch goes through, and the restore sheet finds whatever it finds.
  • Order link screen. It runs the same steps in the same order: switch, snackbar, restore sheet, then open the order. Only the code location changed.
  • NotificationGroupCard. It has a new required onOtherNode parameter. NotificationsScreen is its only caller.
  • Localization.
    • otherNodeCardOpenHint is replaced by otherNodeCardSwitchPrompt in all 7 locales, and nothing else used the old key.
    • The buttons reuse the existing nodeSwitchConfirmAction and cancel keys.
    • The generated app_localizations*.dart files are in the same commit.
  • Not affected:
    • generated bindings and Rust, which are unchanged;
    • persisted data and existing installs, since there is no new store or key;
    • push, because registration is node-agnostic and nothing changes there;
    • automation identifiers, since no keys or semantics changed;
    • the wire, because no daemon message is sent by a switch.
  • Platforms. The change is pure Dart UI, so it is the same on every platform.

Setup

Two Mostro nodes, A and B, both in the node list. One trade in progress on node A, with at least one notification for it (a chat message or a status update).

Steps

  1. While on node A, switch to node B in Settings. Open Notifications. → The card of the node-A trade shows the "other node" line.
  2. Tap the card's notification. → A dialog asks "Do you want to switch to node A?" with Change node and Cancel.
  3. Tap Cancel. → The dialog closes. The app stays on node B and nothing opens.
  4. Tap the notification again, then Change node. → The button shows a spinner, and tapping outside does not close the dialog. Then the snackbar "Now using A" appears, the restore sheet runs, and once it closes the chat (or trade) of that card opens.
  5. Back on Notifications (now on node A), switch to node B again from Settings. Tap Go to trade on the same card and confirm the switch. → After the restore sheet, the trade detail opens.
  6. Open a mostro: order link for an order on the other node and accept the switch. → The behaviour is unchanged: the snackbar, then the restore sheet, then the order.
  7. Look over the Notifications screen itself. → It shows the new app bar, the palette background, the section headers, the backup banner, the empty state and the red delete swipe.

Not covered

  • A switch that fails: covered by the widget tests only.
  • A node that is not in the registry: covered by the widget tests only.

  • Notifications screen, before / after: app bar, background, section header, backup banner, empty state, delete swipe.
  • The new switch dialog. Also its busy state, if you have it.

Design-guide rules touched (§12): DS-CMP-12 (app bar), DS-CMP-18 (scaffold background), DS-COL-1 and DS-COL-11 (palette tokens, no colour literals), DS-SHP-4 and DS-CMP-8 (radii). .specify/DESIGN_SYSTEM.md §14 now counts one app bar and one scaffold less as debt.

Automated tests

  • test/features/settings/node_switch_test.dart (new):
    • A switch that goes through shows "Now using …" and runs the restore.
    • A failed switch does neither.
  • test/features/notifications/other_node_switch_dialog_test.dart (new):
    • The prompt names the node and offers both buttons.
    • Cancel resolves to null and switches nothing.
    • The switch runs with the dialog open and busy, and nothing closes the dialog meanwhile.
    • A failed switch resolves to false.
    • It fits 320 dp at 2× text in German (DS-A11Y-4).
  • test/features/notifications/notifications_screen_other_node_test.dart (new), through the real screen and router:
    • A chat card switches, restores, then opens the chat.
    • Go to trade opens the trade.
    • Cancel switches and opens nothing.
    • A failed switch shows the error and opens nothing.
    • A node not in the registry is offered by its short key and switched to.
  • test/features/notifications/notification_group_card_other_node_test.dart (updated):
    • The card hands the node, its name and the opener to onOtherNode instead of showing the old dialog.

flutter test: 3098 tests passed.

Checklist

  • cd rust && cargo fmt --check && cargo clippy -- -D warnings && cargo test pass locally (no Rust changes)

AI assistance

Claude Code wrote the implementation, tests and doc changes under my direction and review. I decided the behaviour: open what was tapped after the switch, no warning about current-node trades, and offer unknown or unreachable nodes. I ran the manual testing myself.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Notification cards for trades on another node now let you switch to that node and open the selected chat or trade. You can cancel without changing your current node, and nodes missing from the registry can still be offered for switching.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Failed node switches now show an error and leave the selected item unopened.
  • Style
    • Updated the notifications screen with a redesigned app bar, refreshed colors, and updated card styling.

Add switchActiveNode and afterNodeSwitch in
lib/features/settings/services/node_switch.dart: the switch itself, then
the success snackbar and the account restore on the new node. The order
link screen uses them instead of its own copy.
The notifications screen reads the redesign palettes instead of AppColors
and color literals: redesignAppBar with the palette background, the delete
swipe in the destructive red, the section header in My Trades' group
header color, and the backup banner and empty state on palette tokens,
with card and tile radii from the guide.
A card of a trade on another node now asks whether to switch to that
node instead of pointing to Settings. Switching runs with the dialog
open, then restores the account on the new node and opens the chat or
trade that was tapped; a failed switch says so and opens nothing.
PUSH_NOTIFICATIONS.md §9.2 describes the switch offered from a card of
another node's trade. DESIGN_SYSTEM.md §14 counts one app bar and one
scaffold less on the theme background, after the notifications screen
migration.

Walkthrough

Notification cards for trades on another node can prompt a node switch before opening the selected chat or trade. A shared service handles node selection and account restoration. The order-link flow also uses this service. Notification styling, translations, tests, and design-system gap counts are updated.

Changes

Notification node switching

Layer / File(s) Summary
Route card actions through a switch prompt
lib/features/notifications/widgets/notification_group_card.dart, lib/features/notifications/widgets/other_node_switch_dialog.dart, lib/l10n/app_*.arb, lib/l10n/app_localizations*.dart, test/features/notifications/notification_group_card_other_node_test.dart, test/features/notifications/other_node_switch_dialog_test.dart
Other-node notification actions pass the node details and intended action to a callback. The confirmation dialog runs the switch callback and returns its result. Localized prompts and widget tests cover these interactions.
Switch nodes and open the selected item
lib/features/settings/services/node_switch.dart, lib/features/notifications/screens/notifications_screen.dart, lib/features/deep_links/screens/order_link_screen.dart, test/features/notifications/notifications_screen_other_node_test.dart, test/features/settings/node_switch_test.dart, docs/PUSH_NOTIFICATIONS.md
The shared service selects a node and handles success feedback and account restoration. The notification screen opens the selected item after a successful switch and reports failures. The order-link screen also uses the service. Notification styling and tests cover the updated flow.

Design-system gap counts

Update theme-default gap entry
.specify/DESIGN_SYSTEM.md
The documented app-bar and scaffold counts change from 11 to 10. The text-field count remains 13, and the redesigned-field example names only the premium field.

Reviewed the whole diff (4 commits) against what the description claims, plus a trace of the new switch path end to end. Locally: flutter analyze clean, dart tool/design_check.dart no breaks, the PR's four test files plus the deep-link and notifications suites pass (216 tests). CI is green.

It does what it says. Verified:

  • Every way into an other-node card (row tap, Go to trade, expanded events) goes through onOtherNode; node! is safe because nodeName != null implies elsewhere, which implies node != null. tradeGone still disables Go to trade before the wrap.
  • The switch is the Settings path (selectNode → set_active_mostro_node), then the same snackbar and the same restoreAfterNodeSwitch, then open(). Every context use after an await is behind a mounted check, the _switching guard is set before the first await and cleared in finally.
  • The dialog's Navigator.pop(switched) bypasses PopScope, while the barrier tap and system back both go through maybePop, which canPop: false blocks mid-switch. switchActiveNode catches everything, so onSwitch cannot throw for the only caller.
  • order_link_screen.dart: same steps in the same observable order (the only reorder is setState(_changingTo = null) now before the snackbar instead of after, invisible to the user); failure still goes through _fail(nodeChangeFailed). The existing deep-link suite still exercises it.
  • The kind-14 author set keeps the previous node (retain_previous_node + issuing_nodes_of_live_trades), so the old node's cards still arrive after the switch and offer the way back, as claimed.
  • otherNodeCardOpenHint has no remaining use anywhere; the 7 locales and the generated files are in commit c772c38; the docs no longer describe the OK-only dialog.
  • The amber line leaves after the switch (derived from ref.watch(mostroPubkeyProvider) in the card's build).

Nits, none blocking:

  1. The description and Manual testing steps 2 and 4 say the primary button reads Switch node; nodeSwitchConfirmAction is Change node (app_en.arb:874). Just fix the PR text.
  2. _OtherNodeSwitchDialogState._switch has no try/finally: if onSwitch ever threw, the dialog would be stuck busy and unclosable (Cancel disabled, canPop false). Unreachable today because switchActiveNode never throws, but the widget's contract (Future<bool> Function()) does not say so. A finally { if (mounted) setState(() => _switching = false) } or a doc line on onSwitch would make it robust for the next caller.
  3. Follow-up candidate, pre-existing limitation: a bondClaim notice filed into a group whose status cards carry another node also goes through the switch prompt, although the payout screen is node-independent (§6.4: a claim is always submitted to its issuing node). Before this PR the OK dialog blocked it outright, so this is strictly better; just noting it in case you want the claim card to open directly.
  4. On CodeRabbit's DS-CMP-26 point: the same key is already the answer of the deep-link node dialog, and the body is a yes/no question about switching, so "Change node" reads as the action the button performs. Your call; I would not block on it.
  5. .specify/DESIGN_SYSTEM.md §14: the 11→10 decrement is right for this PR's scope. The absolute figure in that row was already stale on main (a grep today finds far fewer bare AppBar(), and the row is duplicated at lines 429 and 434, both pre-existing. Not this PR's job, but worth a separate cleanup.

Approving.

Drop the duplicated ThemeData row from the design guide's known gaps.

@grunch Thanks for the thorough review.

  • PR text: fixed. Manual testing steps 2 and 4 now say Change node.
  • _switch with no guard: a throw from onSwitch now closes the dialog as a failed switch (pop(false)), so the caller shows its errorSwitchingNode snackbar like any other failure. It no longer leaves the dialog stuck busy. There's a new test for it, and it fails without the fix.
  • Duplicated §14 row: I deleted the stale copy (the old line 434), since this PR was already editing it. The absolute counts in the row being out of date is left for a separate cleanup.
  • Bond claim through the switch prompt: agreed, I'll open a follow-up issue so the claim card opens the payout screen directly.
  • DS-CMP-26: keeping "Change node", for the reasons you gave.

🟡 Minor · Roll back the node selection when the registry reload fails. · node_switch.dart:22-29

lib/features/settings/services/node_switch.dart:22-29
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Roll back the node selection when the registry reload fails.

selectNode persists and retargets the new node before it awaits nodes_api.listMostroNodes(). If that reload throws, switchActiveNode returns false, but the active node remains changed. The new notification flow then shows a switch error, skips account restoration, and does not open the selected item. The order-link flow had this same boundary before this PR.

Handle the reload inside the rollback boundary and restore the previous node through settings_api.setActiveMostroNode before rethrowing.

Re-reviewed after 0c77be2a (the round answering my first review; that review shows as dismissed, so here is a fresh one).

Verdict: approve. The new commit does what the reply says and introduces no bug.

Checked locally on the PR head:

  • other_node_switch_dialog.dart: a throw from onSwitch now pops the dialog with false, so _openOnItsNode shows errorSwitchingNode like any other failed switch, and _switching is reset by the caller's finally. No pop after unmount, no double pop, PopScope keeps blocking only while busy. catch (e) also swallows Errors, which is right for a dialog that can otherwise never be closed; switchActiveNode already catches, so this is defence in depth.
  • The new widget test is sound: it is red without the fix (unhandled StateError: boom) and green with it, and a wrong fix (catch without pop, or pop(true)) would fail it. flutter analyze clean on both files, whole file 6/6, CI green.
  • §14: the deleted row was the stale pre-22d93bad copy (still named UnderlineAmountField, 14 fields); the kept row at line 429 is the current one, and nothing under tool/ or test/ parses §14 rows.
  • PR body steps 2 and 4 now say Change node.

Two nits, not blocking:

  1. The commit's body only says "Drop the duplicated ThemeData row" and nothing about the fix its subject names. The row deletion is pre-existing debt and would read better as its own docs(design): commit, but the PR is a feat, so no quality-bar rule is at stake.
  2. The PR body's test list still names five tests for other_node_switch_dialog_test.dart; the sixth (a switch that throws) is missing, and the Affected-flow bullet could say an exception takes the errorSwitchingNode path too. One-line edit.
