BigDeal Image Slider Plugin for GetSimple CMS

BigDeal Image Slider is a responsive, customizable image slider plugin engineered specifically for GetSimple CMS. Built with a zero-dependency vanilla JavaScript engine, it delivers high performance and broad transition effect support without relying on external libraries like jQuery.

Installation

  1. Download or save the bigdeal_slider.php file.
  2. Upload bigdeal_slider.php to your GetSimple CMS plugin directory: 
    /plugins/bigdeal_slider.php
  3. Log in to your GetSimple CMS Admin Panel.
  4. Go to the Plugins tab and enable BigDeal Image Slider (if not auto-enabled).

Template Usage

To render the slider on your front-end template, call the PHP function inside your theme files (e.g., header.inc.php, template.php, or page layout templates):

Note: Place this tag where you want the slider container to appear within your layout HTML.

⚙️ Configuration & Management

Navigate to Theme -> Image Slider Settings in the GetSimple CMS admin sidebar to manage settings:

Global Slider Settings

  • Transition Effect: Choose a specific transition or select Random (Mix All Effects).
  • Slide Interval (ms): Time each slide stays visible (e.g., 7000 = 7 seconds).
  • Transition Duration (ms): Animation speed during slide changes (e.g., 1500 = 1.5 seconds).
  • Slide Height: Set explicit heights such as 450px, 600px, or relative sizing.
  • Typography & Caption Styling: Customize font sizes, colors, background opacity (RGBA format), and alignment (left, center, or right).

Managing Slides

  1. Click + Add New Slide.
  2. Click Select from Files to pick an uploaded image via the modal folder browser, or manually paste an absolute/relative image path into the Image URL field.
  3. (Optional) Add a Title, Caption Text, or Link URL.
  4. Click Save Changes.

File Structure & Data Storage

  • Plugin Logic: plugins/bigdeal_slider.php
  • Settings & Slide Data: Automatically created and maintained at data/other/bigdeal_slider_data.json

Requirements

  • CMS: GetSimple CMS 3.3+ (CE / Standard)
  • PHP: PHP 7.4 or PHP 8.x+
  • Browser Support: All modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) with standard CSS3 3D Transform & Flexbox support.
