Code quality review: GeneralUpdate.Drivelution and GeneralUpdate.Extension #490
A thorough code review was performed on GeneralUpdate.Drivelution and GeneralUpdate.Extension to assess their production readiness. Both components compile successfully, but several issues were identified.

GeneralUpdate.Extension (7 issues, all fixed in #489)
#
Issue

E-2
_dependencyResolver injected but never used — dead code with commented-out null check
Medium
✅ Fixed
E-3
6 of 8 lifecycle hooks (OnBefore/AfterActivate/Deactivate/Uninstall) are never invoked
IExtensionServiceFactory has no implementation class
Low
✅ Fixed
E-6
GET request with JSON body (non-standard HTTP, proxy compatibility risk)
Low
✅ Fixed
E-7
InitializeFileListener (same thread-safety issue as D-5)
Medium

Remaining Concerns
After fixes, these limitations remain:
ActivateExtensionAsync/DeactivateExtensionAsync are skeleton methods — they invoke lifecycle hooks but contain no actual extension loading/unloading logic (e.g., Assembly.LoadFrom). This is marked as host-specific.
Download queue is not integrated into UpdateExtensionAsync — the queue now has a DownloadHandler callback, but UpdateExtensionAsync still calls _httpClient.DownloadExtensionAsync directly, bypassing the queue.
IExtensionHost interface changes are breaking — new methods have no default implementations because the target is netstandard2.0.
