SocketTest is a utility and can be used in a number of different roles.

It has a client module which allows you to make a TCP/IP socket connection to a network device. I also has a server module which can be used to act as a TCP/IP host and allow you to connect to it.

The concept behind the application is aid in the development of network applications and permit you to test applications without a physical network device.

The software also has a proxy mode. You can tell the client module to connect to a network device, then start the server module and click on the proxy checkbox. You can then send your application's commands to the server and they will be forwarded to the client. You can see the conversation between the 2 devices in the message log windows.
