Ahmed Hossam

Software engineer at the Open Transit Software Foundation, working on OneBusAway.

I mostly work on backend systems, APIs, open source, and Go. I like understanding how things work and tend to go deep when something genuinely makes me curious.

I was a Google Summer of Code contributor with OneBusAway in 2024 and a GSoC mentor in 2026.

Before that, I spent a lot of time in competitive programming and competed in ECPC and ACPC.

Interested in

Backend systems, distributed systems, databases, database internals, routing, public transportation systems, and open source.

Outside of software, I play chess, think a lot about life, and spend more time looking at the stars than I probably should.
