Do I still need the file-system MCP? Claude seems to prefer the file-system commands from time to time. Although I am not sure it even matters, I cannot seem to make it prefer the desktop-commander commands.
Since the file-system MCP specifically tells which directories are allowed to be accessed by other MCPs, I don't think I can do without it. Desktop-commander does not have this option for example.

It should replace it but you are correct that DC misses allowed folder setup, its one of tasks I plan to close this Wednesday

I was able to get around creating a large 15KB file by prompting Claude to: Use block edit for 300 lines, save then continue block edit until the file is done, DO NOT try and write the entire file at once. I wonder if there is a better way to address the limits.

I think continue works
But I would usually break duch files to multiple files.
There are reasons for that on the side of reading, rather then writing.

Yeah I realize that now, I spent a lot of time trying to fix that file. Continue works with small files, large files not so much.

I hit similar issue today.
Was working with someone else code.
I usually instruct it to break files when they get big.

Here file was too big already and Desktop Commander failed
I created issue here, have some ideas

Feature Request: Move Chats to Folders / Organize Chats

Hi DC Team,

it would be great to have the ability to move chats between folders directly from the chat list. Currently, there's no "Move to..." option when right-clicking a chat.

What I'd love to see:

Right-click on a chat → "Move to folder..."
Drag & drop chats into folders
This would make it much easier to keep chats organized, especially for users who work across multiple projects or topics.

Just move a chat from one workspace to another. When I right-click on a chat, I only see “Rename,” “Pin Chat,” and “Delete Chat”... “Move to...” is missing ;-)
