Explore the full feature set below:

Click and drag the eyedropper anywhere to sample a color. Choose between single‑pixel sampling or 3×3 / 5×5 average sampling for smoother results.

Magnifier — Zoom in for pixel‑perfect accuracy
Magnify any area of the screen to inspect and select colors with precision. Adjust zoom levels using the plus/minus buttons before or after magnifying.

Auto‑copy to clipboard — Faster workflow
When enabled, Color Cop automatically copies the selected color value to your clipboard in your chosen format.

Snap to WebSafe, Detect WebSafe, Reverse, Random, Convert to Grayscale

Relative position measuring — On‑screen distance tool
Hold Ctrl while dragging the eyedropper to set the origin to (0,0). Moving the mouse shows coordinates relative to that point—useful for layout and spacing checks.

Color History — Quickly revisit recent picks
Your last 7 sampled colors are stored for easy access. Click any swatch to reselect it. Right‑click while eyedropping to push a color into history.

Complementary color palette — Instant color suggestions
Color Cop generates a 42‑color complementary palette on the fly based on your current selection.

System tray support — Stays out of your way
Minimize Color Cop to the system tray for quick access without cluttering your taskbar.

Mouse wheel support — Fine‑tuned control
Use the mouse wheel to adjust magnification while zoomed in. When focused on the Red, Green, or Blue fields, the wheel increments or decrements values by 1 (Shift for ±2, Ctrl for ±5).

BMP to clipboard — Capture the magnified view
Double‑click inside the magnifier window to copy the current zoomed bitmap to your clipboard.

Portable mode — Keep settings with the executable
Launch Color Cop with the
-portable
switch to store configuration files alongside the executable instead of in LocalAppData. Ideal for USB drives, VMs, and portable toolkits.

Dark mode — Match Windows or choose your theme
Color Cop supports system, light, and dark themes. When set to System, the UI automatically follows your Windows theme; you can also force Light or Dark mode from the Options menu.
